Darkest Dungeon 2 Early Access Debuts on October 26

Early access version will be exclusive to Epic Games Store

The time is almost near, Darkest Dungeon fans! Developer Red Hook Studios has just announced that the second installment in the gothic horror RPG series will be coming to Early Access this fall. The bad news for some of you who don’t like having accounts on multiple games distribution services is that this will be an Epic Games Store exclusive.

On the bright side, I think we can all agree that Darkest Dungeon 2 deserves such a compromise, so if you don’t have an Epic Games Store account yet, perhaps it’s time to create one if you love the franchise.

Darkest Dungeon 2 will be launching into early access via the Epic Games Store on October 26, so a bit more than a month from now. Not much is known about the game yet, even though Red Hook Games did release a teaser to go with the Early Access announcement.

Although the fact that Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to Epic Games Store isn’t something new, as the information was revealed last year, it will be interesting to see if the exclusive deal only covers the Early Access version or it includes the final build too.

As some of you probably know already, exclusive Epic Games Store deal typically last for a year, after which games are coming to Steam. While we can’t say how long it will take Red Hook Studios to launch the final version of Darkest Dungeon 2, we can’t help but wonder if that will also be exclusively available via the Epic Games Store for another year.

Either way, for many gamers it will come down to whether they love Darkest Dungeon more than they hate Epic Games Store. We’re excited to learn that Darkest Dungeon 2 is so close to release, and you should be too if you’re a fan of Red Hook Studios’ masterpiece, regardless of who’s going to sell it to you.
