Robotics Software Engineer at Arrival/London

published at 13.09.2021 12:12

Location: London

Company: Arrival

Relocation Level: International

Remote support for this position: partial

Background

Arrival builds 'devices on wheels', taking a new approach to vehicle design as well as assembly/production processes. Mobile robotics are critical to our operations; both our commercial vehicles and our robots rely extensively on robust, correct, and high-performing software. Our software development standards are high, thanks to the passion and drive of our engineers. We welcome you to join our well-rounded multi-disciplinary team of product designers, roboticists and systems engineers.

There is no job 'spec'.

We are a team of engineers with a 'systems' approach to solving problems, which are many, varied, interesting, and worth solving. We seek experienced software engineers with an aptitude to implement complex systems from first principles. You will almost certainly contribute to the software architecture of large, real-time, distributed robotic systems (prior robotics domain knowledge is not necessary). You will provide technical leadership in evaluation of technologies, and you will have the opportunity to direct, invent, build and deliver solutions that are long-term sustainable, and of high quality. You will mentor the rest of us, and help us grow as a team. We shall do the same for you, aiming to provide you with the environment and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

  • Advanced skills in C++, including C++20, on Unix platforms
  • Expert in algorithms, software architecture design and implementation
  • Advanced degree (Masters, PhD) in science or engineering
  • Portfolio of impactful work in a commercial/industrial environment.
  • Preferable: Enough hardware experience to confidently work with electro-mechanical systems (motor drives, sensors), cameras, ASICs, micro-controllers, and general purpose computing boards (raspberry Pi, NVidia Jetson)
