Windows 11 Focus Sessions: What, When, Why

New feature coming to Windows 11 this year

One of the new features that will be rolling out as part of Windows 11 is called Focus Sessions, a new tool bundled with the revamped clock app that makes it easier to stay focused and productive while you work on a device powered by the new OS.

As you could easily figure out, Focus Sessions can do all sorts of things supposed to let you focus on the project you’re working on, including stopping the music completely.

But at the same time, it can also play the tunes that make sense for what you’re doing, such as music powered by Spotify and specifically created to avoid you getting distracted.

Bundled with the Clock app, already up for testing

The new Focus Sessions also comes with Microsoft To Do integration.

“Select the task you would like to work on during your focus session and check it off once it is done. Focus Sessions integrates with Microsoft To Do, enabling you to manage your To Do tasks without having to switch context. Leverage Focus Sessions to work on your tasks planned for the day and make the most out of it,” Microsoft explains.

In addition, the new Focus Sessions will come with a daily goal for the projects you’re working on, so you can track your daily progress with a custom goal. Everything is displayed right in the Clock app.

The new app will be bundled with Windows 11 by default, and it’s currently available for a limited number of insiders running preview builds.

Windows 11 will be finalized next month, so sooner or later, everybody should be able to try out the new Clock app with Focus Sessions. This feature will be included in Windows 11 on day one when the new operating system launches for production devices beginning with October this year.
