LTMC Decommissioned? or Replaced?

Hello All 🙂, welcome back –

Today’s topic is about if LTMC is not available? Or how to use the new version/ form of it?

Let’s get into today’s practical topic:

Generally, we all discussed how to launch LTMC and create LTMC jobs in previous sessions.

Let’s quickly touch base on high-level

  1. We login SAP GUI
  2. Give T-code as LTMC
  3. And A web browser will get open to launch LTMC

And let’s see these 3 steps again:

Step 1:

LTMC Launched

Next Step:

LTMC in a web browser

Here, if we see – we have information on the screen, and the options like – Create/Delete/Open is disabled.

The information is like – “With SAP S/4HANA 2021, it will no longer be possible to migrate data using transaction LTMC. It will still be possible to display existing projects, but new projects cannot be created.
You can use the app Migrate Your Data – Migration Cockpit to migrate data to SAP S/4HANA. You can access this app in the Fiori launchpad.”

What does it mean?

You want more information about the two versions of the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit, namely the

Web Dynpro-based application (Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)) and the SAP Fiori

application (Migrate Your Data – Migration Cockpit).

  1. You want to know when transaction LTMC (for SAP S/4HANA) or the app “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)” (for SAP S/4HANA Cloud) will no longer be supported.
  2. With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2105, it will no longer be possible to migrate data using the app Migrate Your
  3. Data – Migration Cockpit (old). It will still be possible to display existing projects, but new projects
  4. cannot be created. You can use the app new Migrate Your Data – Migration Cockpit to migrate data to
  5. SAP S/4HANA. You can access this app on the Fiori launchpad.

“Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any

resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.”

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Resolution:

Availability of New Fiori app: Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit:

Migrate Data Using Staging Tables approach in the new Fiori app is available with SAP S/4HANA

Cloud 2008 and SAP S/4HANA 2020 onwards.

  • Projects created using transaction LTMC (for SAP S/4HANA) or the app “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)” (for SAP S/4HANA Cloud) cannot be accessed using this new app.
  • The following screenshot shows the Web Dynpro-based application “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)” that was available before SAP S/4HANA 2020 and SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008:

The latest version of LTMC – web Dynpro is as follows:

It errored as – “You are not authorized to use Migration Cockpit to Migrate the Data”

available with SAP S/4HANA 2020 and SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 onwards:

Deprecation Information:

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

  • From SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 onwards, projects created using the Web Dynpro-based application “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)” can only be accessed from that app.
  • The deprecation phase started with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2011.
  • With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2105 the Web Dynpro-based application “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)” will be deprecated.
  • Existing projects will be still available in display mode.

SAP S/4HANA (On-Premise)

  • With SAP S/4HANA 2020, projects created using transaction LTMC can only be accessed within transaction LTMC.
  • With SAP S/4HANA 2021, existing projects in transaction LTMC will be still available in display mode. It will not be possible to create new projects.

Recommendations:

  • For SAP S/4HANA 2020 and SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 (and higher), we recommend using the “Migrate Your Data – Migration cockpit” Fiori app to create Migration projects.

You are using SAP S/4HANA Cloud and the Web Dynpro-based application “Migrate your Data – Migration Cockpit (Old)”:

  • If your go-live is before SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2105 RTC, you can continue to use this app.
  • If your go-live is after SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2105 RTC, then you must use the new app as it will not be
  • possible to migrate data using the old app after this release.
  • Make plans to switch from the old to the new app as soon as possible to avoid any issues.

You are using SAP S/4HANA and the LTMC with 2020:

  • We highly recommend that you use the new app, but you can still use the old app. Note that if you upgrade to SAP S/4HANA 2021 the old app can only be used in display mode.
  • If you plan to upgrade from 2020 to 2021 before your go-live, you must use the new app.

Remarks:

  • Due to technical restrictions, projects created with one app cannot be used by the other app.
  • The migration objects can be used by both apps – there are no app-specific migration objects.

Conclusion:

LTMC is not decommissioned and whoever is using LTMC as a migration solution, can still continue using this as a solution via the Fiori app as shown above.

Good luck  🙂

In the next blog posts, we can discuss more processing.

That’s all about this blog post.
