Redis Labs官网宣布，目前公司将Redis Labs改名为Redis，保持更简洁的称谓。Redis 表示更名反映了公司在引领开源 Redis 从流行的缓存系统演变为领先的实时数据平台方面所保持的使命。公司更名不会影响开源项目 Redis 的 BSD 许可。
Redis 项目由 Salvatore Sanfilippo（ antirez）于 2009 年创建。Redis Labs成立于 2011 年。2015 年，Sanfilippo 加入Redis Labs，并将 Redis 项目的知识产权和商标权转让给Redis Labs公司。Redis 联合创始人兼首席执行官 Ofer Bengal 表示， Redis 从服务于单一用途（如缓存和会话管理）到提供广泛的功能，努力为世界上最关键的应用提供支持。
