Microsoft starts testing another major Edge build

Microsoft has officially released the very first build of Microsoft Edge Dev 94, and just as expected, there are big things coming your way this time.

First and foremost, the Redmond-based software giant says this very first build of Edge Dev 94 comes with a second row of Top Sites on the New Tab page. Needless to say, this makes it easier to find a top site when opening a new tab, so in theory, it’s a welcome update for those who relied on this feature.

Then, this update also enables the new Spellcheck experience on Apple’s macOS, while also improving the sign-in dialog when singing into the browser.

As it happens every time Microsoft rolled out a new Dev build, there are also plenty of fixes, including for crashes that occurred on launch, so after the update, everything should be much smoother.

The known issues

As for the known issues, there are several of them in this update, many of which are inherited from the previous Dev versions of Microsoft Edge.

One of them, which has officially been acknowledged in June, causes errors when loading YouTube, and given how popular this video sharing platform currently is, it goes without saying quite a lot of people are impacted.

“Our Media team has received a number of reports regarding a potential bug, so we wanted to loop you in on our findings. We’ve heard that a number of users who have the AdBlock (Plus) or Adblock for Youtube extensions installed are running into errors on YouTube videos. If you’re experiencing this bug, you will likely encounter a black screen on the video player when attempting to load a video on YouTube. We’ve found that this behavior is happening on all operating systems and all Microsoft Edge channels,” Microsoft explained back in June.
