此前已有消息指 Netflix 正在寻找一位高管来领导其向游戏领域的扩张，并着眼于提供类似于 Apple Arcade 或 Xbox Game Pass 的订阅服务。而现在，该公司已经聘请了 Mike Verdu 作为其游戏开发副总裁，向首席运营官 Greg Peters 汇报。
据彭博报道，Netflix 可以在「明年内」让游戏板块上线，就像在平台上刷剧看电影那样，无需额外付费进行体验。
Verdu 曾在 Zynga 等手游公司工作，运营 EA Mobile 一年时间，最近一直在 Facebook 工作，收购了几家 Oculus 游戏开发商，如《Population: One》的开发商 BigBox VR。
在游戏领域，Netflix 其实早有涉足。比如互动体验式的剧集《黑镜：潘达斯奈基》（Black Mirror: Bandersnatch），还有《怪奇物语》系列的移动游戏等。
