Why Mike Vardy is Quitting Evernote

Productivity expert Mike Vardy exits for a new note-taker…

Yes, you heard it right…

Mike Vardy, long-time Evernote user and world renowned productivity expert is leaving Evernote for a new note-taking application.

In a recent YouTube video, Mike Vardy has shared his recent decision to drop Evernote, why and what he’ll be moving to — let’s recap everything below!

🐘 Why Leave Evernote?

Mike isn’t shy to using and sharing about Evernote — in the past he has been the biggest of advocates of the “most known” note-taking service on the market.

The reason quite simply for Mike leaving Evernote is the quality of the latest Evernote application. He’s finding huge issues loading the application, followed by consistency issues inside of the new application.

This isn’t something new to Evernote community — many people have found an issue with the service and it damaging their experience with the tool.

📝 His Next Note-Taker?

So, Mike has decided to focus on plain-text notes. So with that in mind, Mike has decided to go with Obsidian, a new fledging Desktop/mobile-soon note-taking application famed as the Roam Research competitor in 2021.

Obsidian gives Mike more scope and ability to manage his notes and connect his notes up, and assumingly improves experiences as Obsidian is a very stable app, with a perfect offline/local storage mode.

💎 Why Obsidian

Obsidian most likely opens up more avenues for his notes to connect with each other. It’s more stable right now for him and allows him to make plain-text files, perfect for future transfer and use overtime.

Mike won’t be moving over in one go.

So his Evernote experience will remain open and he’ll transition slowly in and effort not to damage his note-taking process or experience.

Good on Mike for making these moves. Sometimes it’s evaluating what needs to change or what works for you that matters with productivity apps.
