Linux 基金会宣布成立开放 3D 基金会-O3DF(Open 3D foundation)。O3DF基金会的使命是促进在各种行业中的 3D 游戏和模拟技术方面的合作，支持那些推进与 3D 图形、渲染、创作和开发有关的能力的开源项目。
目前管理的第一个项目来自于 Amazon 的 Lumberyard 游戏引擎，将开源为 O3DE引擎，内容创作者可直接使用 O3DE 的内置编写工具来创建 3D 体验。目前开放 3D 基金会高级成员包括亚马逊，华为、Adobe、Niantic。 普通成员包括PopcornFX、Intel、Red Hat 和 Wargaming 等。
