InEight's Rob Bryant explains its game-changing update to InEight Control and much more: VIDEO INTERVIEW

By Alex Zaharov-Reutt

GUEST INTERVIEW: Rob Bryant is InEight's Executive Vice President for the APJ region, and he joined iTWireTV to talk about the company in 2021, how construction project management has evolved and what the complete suite offers companies today, it's game changing update and more in our video interview.

InEight. The company says it is "a global leader in construction project management software," and is "proud to provide field-tested construction project management software for the owners, contractors, engineers and architects who are building the world around us."

We're told "customers worldwide rely on InEight for real-time insights that help manage risk and keep projects on schedule and under budget across the entire life cycle. For us, it’s not just about developing software, it’s about making sure you have the information you need when and where you need it. It’s about helping you avoid project surprises, making it easier for you to make informed decisions and keeping your project on time, on budget and built to the highest quality."

Founded in 1989, the company has been in business over three decades, and with recent news from this year alone that we summarise below the embedded video interview showing an ongoing record success, growth and new features and benefits for customers, it was great to talk to Rob Bryant, InEight's EVP of the APJ region.

I started by introducing Rob, welcoming him to the program and asking him to tell us about and recap InEight in 2021. We spoke about the evolution of construction project management software, and notable milestones along the way. Rob explained the latest InEight updates for customers and their game-changing nature and what it means for the industry, and how it is different.

We talked about implementing the solutions InEight offers and how the company works with its customers so they get the most benefit from the platform, various customer usage scenarios and highlights and more, including upcoming conferences, how the company got its name, Rob's memory of his first computer, his views on the future of the industry over the next couple of years and then what things might be like in 2030, great advice received in life and his final message to iTWire viewers and readers, and InEight's current and future customers and partners.

We had a great discussion which I hope you'll watch immediately below and enjoy!

Now that we've heard from Rob, here's a summary of InEight's most recent news. Back in February, InEight announced enhancements to its planning, scheduling and risk offerings to deliver what it said it "the most intelligent and multi-dimensional planning solution for capital projects."

Then, in late May, InEight launched new time-phased budget and forecast features to "unlock unprecedented visibility for project controls", providing "enhanced revenue and forecasting tools for improved accuracy and visibility of project progress," along with "enhanced connected insights to help ensure construction projects stay on schedule and under budget."

With a time-phased approach to budget and forecast, InEight explained "project stakeholders can proactively take control of financials with real-time data, rather than using traditional monthly processes that can deliver out of date information. Ultimately, project teams will be able to more accurately and efficiently track and predict costs, allowing them to mitigate risk, reduce manual data entry and the need for disparate systems, and receive timely payment."

Rick Deans, Executive Vice President, industry engagement at InEight said: “Until now, gaining greater granularity of a capital project’s budget or forecast has been a considerable challenge. This new feature further elevates the capabilities of project managers versus traditional ERP system offerings, allowing key project stakeholders to gain real-time insights into the project’s percent complete, revenue, budget and forecast, while creating numerous possibilities for earned value management.

“Not only will the feature allow for more detailed analysis such as comparing forecasted value, earned value, and actual value for any period, it will also allow project teams to understand where to focus resources on improvement efforts, where the project is excelling, and whether forecasting efforts are accurate or need attention.

“We believe that this added functionality makes InEight Control the most flexible and functionally complete project cost management solution in the world."

Finally, in early June, InEight announced a strategic integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365, delivering Construction 365 – "a unified enterprise platform incorporating over 30 different integrations to help businesses improve and standardise insights and information flow between office and field for capital construction projects."

InEight said "the integration unifies the data experience (including CRM, Estimating, Project Controls, BIM, Risk Management, Document Management, Scheduling, Accounting, and Procurement, through desktop and mobile capabilities) to deliver businesses with improved transparency and alignment, providing a single source of truth to enhance ease of user access, collaboration and security across Microsoft and InEight applications.

"Using the end-to-end, customisable platform, customers can now connect data and processes seamlessly and intuitively across systems to reduce errors, omissions and redundancies while improving the outcomes of complex long-term projects."

Explaining InEight’s integration strategy, Mike Paul, Managing Director for EMEA at InEight, said: “While the physical world is still seeing borders and restrictions on freedom of movement, the trend in the data world is the opposite. Connectivity is key. Through this integration with Microsoft Dynamics, InEight is creating interconnected workplaces to enhance collaboration and project outcomes in capital construction. It’s an important and timely step towards our goal of digitalising construction project management.”

So, having built its business over the last 32 years on a clearly very solid foundation, InEight's ability to project manage itself into one of the world's leading construction project management software companies and platforms continues its impressive run and timely ongoing upgrades and enhancements to its complete offering and solution, which the company's customers are reliably building on and with, too.

It's great to see a company doing well because it produces ever evolving technologies and solutions that are enabling some of the world's biggest companies and organisation to more confidently, efficiently and effective build the future with a range of world-class projects, and the company's success and that of its customers is well earned and well deserved.
