Lemme tell you a little story. In 2013, we founded a local services marketplace. 2015 was a rocket-ship. Raised $5 Million in VC. Expanded to 3 cities. Hired 250+ employees. 8000+ service experts on the supply side. 1000 customers / day on the demand side. #1 market share. Everything was going great.
Until it wasn’t
We had no product-market fit. And bad unit economics. We ran out of money. And had to lay off 99% of our team in 2 months. We shut down all offices and moved back to an apartment.
Our list of mistakes is huge. But our people mistakes were the worst. Those still pinch us the most. When the shit hit the fan, we were at my worst. Froze like a deer in headlights. As leaders, we should have listened to my people more. Should have spent more time in aligning everyone on company goals. Get to know them beyond daily tasks. Slow down a bit and introspect a bit more.
And this is exactly why we built Kaapi. It’s what we would have loved to use as a manager, and hope you do too. It's kinda amazing that Kaapi is already used by 100s of startup leaders like you.
