Automatic rollout has started to the first wave of devices
Windows 10 version 21H1 was officially announced a few weeks ago, and now Microsoft has already reached the point where the company can start the automatic update of some devices.
More specifically, Windows 10 version 21H1, which has until now been offered only to seekers (users who manually checked for updates on Windows Update), is now offered as an automatic update to some devices running Windows 10 version 2004.
The company previously announced that users running the latest versions of Windows 10 would get the best update experience, with the installation of version 21H1 to be completed just like in the case of a quality update.
Automatic rollout is live
Microsoft, however, now warns that although the automatic update phase has started, not everybody is getting the new version of Windows 10 just yet.
“We also started the first phase in our rollout for machine learning (ML) training, targeting devices on Windows 10, version 2004 to update automatically to Windows 10, version 21H1. We will continue to train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience,” the company explained.
“We are initially throttling up availability over the coming weeks to ensure a reliable download experience. As a result, the update may not be offered to you right away.”
Windows 10 May 2021 Update is another small pack of improvements for the core operating system, with Microsoft focusing all its efforts on the fall update known as Sun Valley. This upcoming release is expected to be the biggest overhaul of Windows 10 since its original debut in the summer of 2015, with CEO Satya Nadella himself teasing a release that will completely overhaul every little part of the operating system, including features and the user interface.
