Whether you’re a student or a recent graduate, living on a tight budget means looking for savings wherever you can, including the assets for your creative projects. Of course, you don’t want to compromise on the quality of your work. That would be the very definition of a false economy. But the good news is, when it comes to fonts, you don’t have to!

Google Fonts launched in 2010, quickly becoming the Internet’s largest, free, open-source selection of fonts. All Google Fonts are free for commercial and personal use. The Google Fonts website makes it easy for anyone to quickly select and utilize different fonts for their own design needs.

Pros:

• Google Fonts are free for commercial use.
• You will not have any trouble with licensing.
• The fonts are easy to implement on your website, so no trouble with font embedding.
• There is quite a lot of choice for a free library.
• The quality of typefaces keeps increasing.
• The typefaces can also be downloaded and used in print.

Cons:

• Since the fonts are broadly used, it may not be a good idea to use these fonts to establish your brand typography.
• Many of the typefaces feature a limited set of weights and styles.

Unfortunately, paid fonts are simply expensive, and we don’t have money to buy them. Free google fonts are a very good alternative, especially recently released ones.

1. Prompt

Prompt in Thai means “ready,” the same as in English. Prompt is a loop less Thai and sans Latin typeface. The simple and geometric Latin was developed to work harmoniously with the loop less Thai that has wide proportions and airy negative space. It is suitable for both web and print usage, such as magazines, newspapers, and posters.

2. DM Sans

DM Sans is a low-contrast geometric sans serif design, intended for use at smaller text sizes. It was designed by Colophon Foundry (UK).

3. Mitr

Mitr is a Thai word that means “friend” in Thai. Mitr is a sans serif Latin and loop less Thai typeface that combines senses of organic and humanist sans serif designs with rounded terminals. It has a wide structure and airy negative space that preserves legibility and readability. Mitr is a novel and friendly typeface that is suitable for casual usage such as celebration cards, magazines, and posters.

4. Fahkwang

Fahkwang is a Thai and Latin san serif family which features a high contrast. It has been inspired by headlines in old Thai newspapers.

5. Inter

Inter is a variable font family carefully crafted & designed for computer screens. Inter features a tall x-height to aid in readability of mixed-case and lower-case text. The Inter project is led by Rasmus Andersson.

6. Kodchasan

Kodchasan is a Thai and Latin family inspired by teenage handwriting. It has a casual appearance which works well for content aimed at adolescents.
