人类的鼻子有两个鼻孔，但并不具有立体嗅觉的能力，无法确定所闻到气味的方向。我们需要转动头部和移动身体去跟踪气味的来源。芝加哥大学人机集成实验室的研究人员找到了一种方法开发出一种安装在鼻子上的微型设备，通过使用微弱的电脉冲帮助鼻子实现立体嗅觉定位气味方向。论文（PDF）发表在本周召开的 ACM CHI 2021 在线会议上。该设备可作为嗅觉缺失症患者的辅助设备使用，其中包括新冠病毒感染引发的嗅觉缺失。
