AMD and GlobalFoundries aren't quite fully separated, but it's getting close. So long as they meet their WSA purchase requirements, AMD is now free to use any fab on any node they wish, a degree of flexibility that fabless AMD has never enjoyed before

AMD this afternoon has amended its wafer supply agreement with fab partner GlobalFoundries. The company plans to buy $1.6B in 12nm+ wafers from 2022 to 2024. But past that, GloFo is no longer AMD's exclusive fab; AMD is now free to use any fab for any node
