Tencent’s TiMi Studio announces a strategic partnership with Xbox Game Studios
10 hours agoTencent's TiMi Studio today announced that the award-winning Chinese gaming studio has formed "an in-depth strategic partnership" with Xbox Game Studios to create new game experiences. There's no mention in the statement on how specifically the partnership will be, but Tencent's top mobile game developer promised more details to be revealed in the coming months.
Context: Founded in Shenzhen in 2008, TiMi Studio is considered one of the biggest game studios in the world. It has many global hit mobile game titles, including Honor of Kings, Arena of Valor, and Call of Duty Mobile.
Xbox Game Studios hasn't dipped a lot into the mobile gaming market. Besides the hit game Minecraft, the recent title that has been made into mobile is Forza in 2020. Microsoft has not fully landed some of its best console games, such as Gears and Halo, onto smartphones.
The collaboration could possibly result in some mobile game projects that involve Xbox's biggest names.
TiMi has now teamed up with Nintendo-backed The Pokemon Company to deliver Pokemon Unite, a team battling game that will be released on Nintendo Switch in addition to Android and iOS.
