Seniority on a team sometimes means doing the shitty/boring/annoying thing so that your teammates can do the fun/exciting/growth thing.
Does it get you promoted? Probably not. Is it a sign of true leadership? Absolutely.
As a team lead, I often picked up escalated customer issues to keep the disruption away from the rest of the team.
That wouldn't always be the right thing to do, but at the time it was the best contribution I could make to us building up some momentum.
