Traditionally, Amazon Prime Day takes place in July every year. Last year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon moved it from its traditional July slot to October.

Now, it looks like Amazon is set to shift the date again for 2021, moving Prime Day to June.

What Is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day began in 2015 and is an event exclusively for Prime members. It discounts and highlights products, especially those created by Amazon, and aims to convince customers to take the plunge on cut-price goods in the traditionally slower moving summer months.

When Is Amazon Prime Day 2021?

According to Recode, multiple internal and external sources has told them that Amazon currently plans Prime Day to take place in June this year.

Though it's not set in stone, if the event does take place in June then it's apparently likely to me in the middle to latter part of the month.

When Recode contacted Amazon spokesperson Katie Larsen for comment, she declined to comment.

Curiously, June would be a month earlier than Prime Day is usually held. It could be that the company wants to boost sales in the second quarter of the year, in order to ease comparisons against 2020's pandemic spending.

For now, Prime Day's June date remains a rumor. Amazon usually only confirm the date a week or two before the date, so we likely have longer to wait for official confirmation.
