根据 Pew Research Center 的调查报告，YouTube 是美国最受欢迎的社交媒体平台。YouTube 和 Facebook 是美国最广泛使用的社交平台，但只有 YouTube 仍然在增长，在成年用户的使用比例从 2019 年的 73% 增长到了 2021 年的 81%。Facebook 则保持不变，仍然是 69%。Facebook 不是唯一一个增长停滞的社交平台，除 YouTube 外只有 Reddit 使用比例自 2019 年以来有显著增长，从 2019 年的 11% 增长到 2021 年的 18%。Facebook 用户中有 49% 的人称他们每天多次访问网站，相比下 45% 的 Snapchat 用户每天打开应用一次以上，Instagram 用户是 38%，而 YouTube 则是超过三分之一。
