Although the iPhone 12 mini has exactly the same rear camera configuration as the iPhone 12, DxOMark has tested it as well. The results are not surprising. The results and performance of the two are not significantly different, but the video recording is relatively poor.
The iPhone 12 mini scored 122 points at DxOMark, ranking 14th along with the iPhone 12 and Honor V30. In contrast, the iPhone 12 Pro Max ranked fifth with a score of 130 and the iPhone 12 Pro ranked sixth with a score of 128.

In terms of sub-items, the iPhone 12 mini has a photo score of 132 and tied for 11th, a video score of 112 tied for fifth, and a zoom score of 41 tied for 28th.
The iPhone 12 has dual rear cameras. The main lens has a 12MP resolution sensor with a 1.4-micron unit pixel, an F1.6 aperture, supports optical image stabilization, auto focus, etc. The second lens is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle 1/3.6-inch sensor with an aperture of F2.4.
DxOMark commented that the performance of the iPhone 12 mini camera is generally very good. In most cases, the target exposure is accurate and the details can be preserved very well. The disadvantage is that the dynamic range is limited, and highlights appear under most test conditions. Sometimes there is a blue white balance color cast.
- The target exposure of photos and videos is accurate;
- Auto focus of photos and videos is fast and accurate;
- Accurate exposure of ultra-wide-angle lens;
- Good image stabilization function;
- Dolby Vision HDR of the video is excellent.
- The dynamic range of photos is limited, and highlight clips often appear;
- Outdoor photos and videos will show white balance blue color cast;
- Visible noise in low light and indoor environment;
- Artifacts such as flare, color quantization, and ringing can be seen in a range of conditions.
