Outlook users can now drag and drop files to Microsoft Teams

Teams All Together Hero Cropped

Microsoft has launched a new file sharing experience that enables Outlook users to drag and drop files to Teams. The company has announced on the Teams UserVoice page that drag and drop support is now generally available in the Microsoft Teams desktop app for Windows and Mac.

Previously, there was no way to upload the file attachments in Outlook to Teams directly, and users had to download the file to the desktop before manually uploading it to the files tab in Teams. This was a major limitation since downloading/uploading text files might not take that long, but larger files can use a lot of bandwidth and take a long time.

Thanks to this update, the drag and drop support should cut that time significantly. For instance, users will now be able to open Outlook for Windows and then proceed to drag and drop a selection of email attachments to Microsoft Teams. The feature is already supported on the web, and it makes multitasking easier while you are in a meeting or a call.

In other news, Microsoft Teams will soon support Large gallery view and Together Mode on the web. At the moment, the new meeting experience is already available for public preview users, and these capabilities are expected to launch next month officially.
