  • Sales kickoffs can be an incredible tool for engaging sales teams, if carried out the right way.
  • Leaders from Salesforce and Zscaler recently gave their best tips for planning a motivational kickoff as part of a digital live event, "5 Must-Haves for the Ultimate Sales Kickoff."

This past year has seen in-person meetings replaced with Zoom calls, Skype sessions, and all types of behind-the-screen interactions. In our everyday remote environment, motivating sales, extended teams, and company leaders through a screen barrier can be challenging.

That's why sales leaders are adopting new initiatives and strategies to ensure their sales kickoff agenda is inspiring and moves their teams in the right direction.

Lisa McCarthy, the chief executive and cofounder of Fast Forward Group, moderated the recent digital event "5 Must-Haves for the Ultimate Sales Kickoff," which explored how to plan a successful kickoff that will ultimately secure more revenue and help create happier customers.

McCarthy talked about these ideas with Jenna Dunkle, a field enablement team manager at Salesforce, and Megan Allen, a global buyer and sales enablement manager at Zscaler.

Dunkle and Allen underlined how each of their organizations implement engaging elements and pump up tactics into their kickoff events.

"Highlighting how your company is making an impact out in the field is a great way to keep your sales organization energized and remind them why they're doing what they're doing on a daily basis," Allen said.

The panelists shared how sales teams can make the absolute best of the current environment for their virtual event, from inspirational keynote speakers and breakout groups to customer panels and themed events."People are still going to crave that in-person connection. Where I think the hybrid comes into play is, 'Hey, what could be done globally or in these two-hour chunks,'" Dunkle said. "How can we use our resources and dollars effectively to still recreate that network, that fun, and have a little bit of an in-person component. It's really finding that balance."
