Apple has launched a new repair program to fix iPhone 11 units that have faulty touchscreens. The company says only a “small percentage” of handsets is affected — but is yours one of them? Here’s how to find out.

Officially named the iPhone 11 Display Module Replacement Program, the service is aimed at displays that “may stop responding to touch due to an issue with the display module,” Apple says.

Given the nature of the issue, you may already know if your iPhone 11 is one of the devices affected. But there is a quick and easy way to check if you’re eligible for a free display replacement. We’ll show you how.

How to find out if your iPhone 11 is eligible for a new screen

First, you’ll need your iPhone 11’s serial number. You’ll find this on its box or on your receipt if you bought the device from Apple, however, the simplest way to get hold of it is within the Settings app:

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap About.

You’ll see your serial number toward the top of the screen, alongside some other information about your device. Make a note of it, then visit the iPhone 11 Display Module Replacement Program webpage.

Enter your serial number on this page and then click Submit. You’ll find out immediately if your device is eligible.

How to get your iPhone 11 display replaced

If indeed you are entitled to a free iPhone 11 display replacement, there are a number of ways you can claim yours:

Apple says eligible devices are covered for up to two years after the first date of sale. Note, however, that if your iPhone 11 damaged, it may been to be repaired (and there may be costs associated) before its display is fixed.
