We're looking for programmers that have experience in one or more of: Rust, distributed systems, or columnar databases (the internals). We're adding to our team building InfluxDB IOx, the future open source core of InfluxDB. It's an in-memory columnar database backed by object storage, written from the ground up in Rust using Apache Arrow. It's also a federated replication, querying, and processing system.

Our team is 100% remote now and in the future. We're looking for people to work on the core columnar database as well as our operational system for our Cloud product. The operator and management plane will control and coordinate a fleet of InfluxDB IOx servers within a Kubernetes environment. It will need to work across all three public clouds or in a customer's data center.

What you'll be doing

• Writing high performance Rust code for a vectorized in-memory columnar store
• Contributing to the Apache Arrow Rust libraries
• API implementation for a distributed database
• Building distributed query planner and executor
• Writing detailed design documents and documentation for other programmers for the above

What you bring to the table

• Strong CS fundamentals
• Years of either Rust experience, building distributed systems, building columnar databases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work asynchronously

Bonus Points

• Building applications in Kubernetes
• Experience working with distributed teams
• Systems programming experience
