Hi! I'm one of the co-founders of elocance. At elocance, we believe that technology can help us realize our full potential through lifelong learning and development. That might be why we created an app that makes life easier for people to read and learn more, but who don't always have the time to do so. Save time by listening to everything you need to catch up with work or just to feed your curiosity. Happy listening!

Tested it out, my points:

+ Good idea

- Voice is too robotic, I can never see me listening with Elocance with the current voice

@rasmuslian Thanks for the feedback. We understand and are excited because the voices will get better. In the mean time, if you're in a bind and need to get through a bunch of reading for work, school or something urgent, we hope you'll think of us!
@rasmuslian Hi We just re-launched on Product Hunt with elocance 2.0 (new page) because we have a new version of the app with improved voices and new options that include various accents etc. Would love your thoughts on this!
Have been seeking something like this for ages! What I'd really love is a reddit version; turn headlines (in MY list) to this very thing.... with voice controls to upvote/downvote, read article, read comments, skip.
@seobrien_mediatech Hi Paul, awesome! We're actually launching a new version soon with features that will hopefully make life easier for busy professionals. On that note, social platform integrations are definitely on the horizon as well. We're big fans of Reddit too and love your feedback. Stay in touch!
@seobrien_mediatech Hey there! we just launched a new version of the app and it went live on PH. Would love your thoughts on this! https://www.producthunt.com/post...
@sabina_khilnani have to agree, the reviews I see in Chrome, that we shouldn't need to sign up, are valid. And what is really needed is "Read a website / URL" and being able to add a newsletter without emailing and requesting it of you. Getting there!
I really don’t want to go through the trouble of creating yet another account just to test out this application. We can’t even catch a glimpse of it without either giving you our email address or access to our Google accounts. Of course I can use a fake email but I really don’t think that creating an account should be necessary in the first place, so I’ll pass.
@anna_0x Thanks for this feedback. You're totally right and we hear you. We're actually changing this for the next version. We hope you'll try it out when it's available in a month!
@sabina_khilnani that's good to hear! Judging by my own behavior, I'd say people are tired of opening accounts all the time, to the point where they'd rather not test any service that seems less than totally thrilling.
@anna_0x Totally took your advice and changed the UX to allow for testing BEFORE having to set up an account. Thanks for that! We just re-launched on Product Hunt as elocance 2.0. Would love your thoughts on this!
@sabina_khilnani Much better, thanks :) I created an account and am now trying it out.
@anna_0x Thanks! Feel free to email me directly with any feedback or thoughts you have: [email protected]
It's a nice idea, but not delivered well. After signing up (!) I uploaded a pdf written in English. The audio sounded like Russian spoken in a hurry. The text extracted from the pdf as displayed was unreadable for me too. I think this goes on the list of apps I don't remember but somehow has access to my emails. A couple of of other points. The news aggregation is awful - who reads that crap? I have nice voices installed on my android, why not use them rather than impose the developers' idea of what I want to hear? TTS has been solved, accessing it simply is the problem. Why waste development resources on reinventing it? tl;dr doesn't do what it says it would.
@fontalamh Hi Rob, thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry that your PDF didn't translate well in the app. We'll check that out and there will be lots of improvements for the next version coming soon. Sometimes the way that PDFs are created make them difficult to be converted from TTS but we're trying to get around this. Totally agree with you that TTS has been solved - we are actually using the same voices that are likely on your android since they are Google Wavenet voices. In terms of the content, these are actually articles / URLs that our users have added to the app already as we're not meant to be a content curation platform. If you need to save time, then we're hoping we can help you do that.
