热力学第一定律出炉之后，确实打消了一大部分人对于永动机的奢望，但还有一部分科学家指出，虽然能量守恒，但宇宙终归浩渺，地球毕竟广阔，留给我们的能量空间还很大呢。如果能设计出一种装置，从海洋、大气甚至宇宙中吸取热能，并将这些热能转化为驱动机械的动力，岂不是既不违反能量守恒定律，也可以得到无尽的能源吗？
