Jay's dotfiles

My dotfiles for a great tiling wm Arch Linux setup. Install your preferred distro and this as a base and throw your tools/packages on top I don't mind sharing with the community but I mostly make this repo for myself to refer to so there are many things here specific to my setup, tweak as needed. Featuring some of the following projects:

  • vim
  • tmux
  • i3-gaps
  • i3-blocks
  • zsh
  • gtk
  • termite
  • firefox
  • ranger
  • feh
  • lightdm
  • compton

Installation

  • Install Arch Linux or a headless install of Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse, or even FreeBSD

  • Install x11, i3-gaps, i3status, i3bar, i3blocks, i3ipc, i3-lock-wrapper, lightdm, lightdm-gtk-greeter, xorg-xprop, termite, rofi, gvim, compton, ranger, irssi, feh, zsh, zsh-completions, git, net-tools, network-manager, ssh, light, pulseaudio, editline, firefox, nm-applet, tmux, arc-dark themes, papirus icons, the_silver_searcher, etc..

  • Clone or copy dotfiles to ~/

  • Install Nerd Fonts

  • adjust variables to your local setup in scripts/updateDotfiles.sh

  • chmod +x ~/dotfiles/scripts/updateDotfiles.sh && bash ~/dotfiles/scripts/updateDotfiles.sh

  • Install oh-my-zsh

  • Fix/customize everything that's broken and specific to your setup

  • Setup your applications and work environment
